Why a US number
A UK company that serves US customers often wants a number they can call without international charges. A US number gives them a local way to reach you.
Check the practical points
Before you order, confirm a few things for your own business.
- Who will answer, and in which hours, given the time difference
- Which phone the calls should be forwarded to
- How you will keep records of customer messages
- Whether you will send marketing messages, which have extra rules
Personal data
Calls, texts and voicemail can contain personal data. If you are a UK business, UK data protection rules apply to how you collect, store and share that data, whichever number the customer used. Include your phone and messaging practices in your privacy notice.
Messaging to US customers
Sending marketing texts to people in the US needs their prior consent and a way to opt out. Our messaging policy and the guide on US text message rules explain the basics.
Emergency calls
A HynoConnect number cannot be used to call 911. Keep another phone available for emergencies.
