Why the area code matters
Customers notice where a number is from. A local-looking number can feel more familiar than a number from far away, and it tells people which part of the country you serve.
Questions to ask before you choose
Start with your customers, not with the number.
- Where are most of your customers?
- Does your business have a real link to that state or city?
- Will you answer calls during that region's working hours?
- Do you want one number for the whole country or one per region?
Keep your business details consistent
Use the same business name and contact details on your website, in your applications and on your number's listing. A number that matches the rest of your public information is easier for customers and for the services you use to trust.
Availability varies
We assign numbers from available inventory. We cannot guarantee a specific area code or prefix, and a location may be out of stock when you order. If your first choice is not available, you can choose another location.
Time zones and answering hours
If your team is in another time zone, say when you answer. Forwarding lets calls reach your phone wherever you are, and a short message on your website about opening hours avoids missed calls.
